A private studio in Oklahoma. Founded on expertise, transparency, and a refusal to work any other way.
Gann Diamonds was founded by Melissa Gann, a Graduate Gemologist credentialed by the Gemological Institute of America, following a 14-year career as a Special Agent with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The studio exists because Melissa saw a clear gap: between what retail jewelers can offer and what a privately operating expert, with no inventory agenda and no commission structure, can provide.
The answer to that gap is this studio. A place where jewelry is made one piece at a time, for one client at a time, with a gemologist who is fully accountable for every recommendation she makes.
The Origin
Melissa spent over a decade investigating homicides for the OSBI. That work demanded precision, skepticism, and an unwillingness to accept appearances at face value. When she took early retirement and pursued her longstanding interest in gemology, she brought all of it with her.
The GIA Graduate Gemologist program is the most rigorous gemological qualification available. Completing it requires mastery of diamond grading, colored stone identification, optical science, and hands-on laboratory evaluation. Melissa completed every requirement while simultaneously building the business that would become Gann Diamonds.
The studio opened as a formal practice and has operated by appointment only from the beginning. That is not a business model she arrived at later. It is the only model she has ever worked with.
What We Stand For
Transparency is the operating principle of this studio. It is not a promise made on a website. It is evident in how every consultation is run, how every stone is presented, and how every price is explained.
Clients who work with Gann Diamonds know what their stone costs and why. They know what the mounting costs and what the labor involves. They know what the total is before any commitment is made, and they have the information they need to make that commitment confidently. Nothing is obscured. Nothing is glossed over. Everything is explained.
The Studio Today
Gann Diamonds operates in Oklahoma as a private studio by appointment only. The studio handles a deliberately limited number of commissions at any given time. Melissa is the sole gemologist and the sole designer. Every piece that comes out of this studio has her direct attention at every stage.
The client base is built on referrals and on the work itself. Pieces speak for themselves, and clients who have had a custom piece made here tend to come back - and tend to send people they trust.
The Community
Melissa is an active member of the national jewelry and gemology professional community. Her story - from criminal investigator to Graduate Gemologist - has connected with people across the industry who share her commitment to honest, expert-led practice. She participates in industry forums, mentors emerging gemologists, and stays current with advances in stone evaluation, treatment detection, and design technology.
