Every project at Gann Diamonds begins with a conversation. Before any stone is sourced, any design is sketched, or any commitment is made, Melissa sits down with you to understand what you are looking for and whether this studio is the right fit for your project.
That first meeting is free. It is also the most important part of the process. What comes out of it shapes everything that follows.
What to Expect at Your Consultation
The initial consultation is a focused, private meeting at the studio. It typically runs 45 to 60 minutes. There is no presentation, no sales pitch, and no pressure to commit to anything. It is a conversation - direct and unhurried.
During that conversation, Melissa will ask about the piece you have in mind, the occasion it is for, the stones that interest you, your setting style preferences, your timeline, and your budget. All of these factors shape what gets sourced and what gets designed. The more clearly you can articulate what matters most, the better the outcome. But if you are still figuring that out, the consultation is exactly the right place to work through it.
What to Bring
If you have reference images - from magazines, social media, or anywhere else - bring them. They do not need to be precise. They just help establish a visual direction. If you have an existing piece you want redesigned, bring that too. If you have a stone already, bring it in and Melissa will evaluate it. If you have nothing but an idea, that is enough to start.
Types of Appointments
New Custom Piece
For clients who want a piece designed and built from scratch. The consultation covers stone preferences, design direction, timeline, and budget. Stone sourcing begins after this meeting.
Heirloom Redesign
For clients with inherited jewelry that needs a new life. Bring the original piece. Melissa will evaluate the stones, assess the metal, and discuss what is possible. Redesign projects follow the same process as new commissions, with the original material at the center.
Stone Evaluation
For clients who already have a loose stone and want an independent expert assessment before setting it - or before making a purchase decision. This appointment focuses on the stone itself: what it is, what it is worth, and what setting styles would suit it best.
Design Review
For clients who are mid-process and want a second opinion on a design, a quote, or a stone they have been shown elsewhere. Melissa provides an honest, independent assessment with no conflict of interest.

Appointment requests are typically responded to within one business day. During high-volume periods - particularly ahead of major gifting occasions - response times may be slightly longer. If your timeline is urgent, note that in your request.
