A custom piece from Gann Diamonds is designed to last. But lasting well requires attention over time - and knowing that the person who made the piece is available when something comes up is part of what makes a private studio different from a retail store.
Melissa remains available to every client after delivery for questions, adjustments, and the ongoing care of what was made here.
What After-Delivery Service Covers
Cleaning and Inspection
Fine jewelry benefits from periodic professional cleaning and prong inspection. Over time, prongs can shift slightly from everyday wear and stones can accumulate buildup that affects their appearance. Periodic inspection catches small issues before they become significant ones. Clients who bring their Gann Diamonds pieces back for inspection receive a thorough assessment of prong security, stone stability, and surface condition.
Sizing and Adjustment
Ring sizing needs change over time. Weight changes, temperature, and simply the passage of years all affect how a ring fits. Sizing adjustments can be made on most designs. Whether this is handled at the studio or referred to a trusted bench jeweler depends on the complexity of the piece. This is always discussed honestly - if a referral is the better option for a specific adjustment, that is what Melissa will recommend.
Prong Retipping and Setting Maintenance
Prongs are the most wear-sensitive part of any ring with raised stones. Over years of daily wear, prong tips wear down and should be retipped before they compromise stone security. This is routine maintenance, not a defect. Knowing when it is needed requires looking at the piece - which is why periodic inspection matters.
Stone Replacement
If a stone is lost or damaged, Melissa can source a replacement that matches the original as closely as possible in size, cut, and quality. Because the original stone's specifications are documented at the time of commissioning, replacement sourcing begins with a clear target rather than a guess.
Redesign
Life changes. Tastes change. A piece designed at 28 may feel different at 45 - or may be ready to become something else entirely. Returning clients can commission redesigns of earlier pieces with the full benefit of an established working relationship. Melissa knows the stone history and the original design intent, which makes redesign conversations more precise and more productive than starting fresh.
For Inherited Gann Diamonds Pieces
If you have inherited a piece that was commissioned at Gann Diamonds, reach out. Melissa keeps records of completed commissions and can provide documentation of the original stones and materials. Whether you want to wear the piece as it is, have it sized, or consider a redesign, the studio is available to help.
Pieces Made Elsewhere
The studio is also available to evaluate, inspect, or advise on fine jewelry that was not made at Gann Diamonds. If you have a piece you are concerned about - a stone that looks different than it once did, a prong that feels loose, a piece you inherited and want assessed - schedule a consultation. Melissa will give you an honest assessment of what you have and what, if anything, it needs.
Scheduling a Service Appointment
After-delivery service appointments are scheduled the same way as new commissions: by reaching out directly to the studio by email or phone. Existing clients are given scheduling priority. Please describe the piece and the service needed when you reach out so the appointment can be prepared appropriately.
