Custom Jewelry, Built Around Your Stone
By appointment only. No retail inventory. No preset designs.
At Gann Diamonds, custom jewelry is not a service offered alongside a retail collection. It is the only thing we do. Every piece that leaves this studio was commissioned by one person, designed for one purpose, and built around one stone that was chosen specifically for them.
That distinction matters more than it might seem. Most jewelers who offer custom work are, in practice, offering modifications to existing designs. A different metal here. A different stone there. The creative range is narrow, the process is quick, and the result reflects the store's aesthetic as much as yours. This studio works differently. The blank page is the starting point.
The Stone Comes First
Every custom piece begins with stone selection, not design. This is the approach of a trained gemologist, not a retailer. The diamond or gemstone at the heart of your piece is what endures. The mounting, by comparison, is changeable. Starting with the stone means every design decision that follows is made in service of what you are actually keeping forever.
Melissa sources loose diamonds and colored stones through wholesale channels that are not available to the public. That access matters. It means more options, better quality per dollar, and stones that have been evaluated by a Graduate Gemologist before they are ever presented to a client. You are not choosing from what happened to arrive in a display case. You are choosing from what was specifically sourced for you.

What Can Be Made
The studio designs and produces the full range of fine jewelry. Engagement rings and wedding bands. Pendants and earrings. Bracelets, brooches, and statement pieces. Redesigns of inherited pieces that deserve a second life. Commemorative jewelry built around a stone with family history.
There are no categories that are off limits and no styles that are outside scope. Whether you are drawn to clean architectural lines, intricate vintage-inspired detail, bold sculptural form, or quiet minimalism, the design process begins with your instincts and develops from there.
The Process
01 - Private Consultation
Every project begins with a focused conversation. We discuss what you are envisioning, what the piece is for, and what matters most to you. Stone type, size, metal preference, setting style, timeline, and budget are all part of this first meeting. Nothing is assumed.
02 - Stone Sourcing and Selection
Based on your priorities, Melissa sources a curated selection of loose stones that fit your criteria. Each stone is presented in person, evaluated under proper gemological conditions, and explained in plain language. You understand exactly what you are looking at before any decision is made.
03 - Design Development
Once the stone is selected, design begins. Using CAD technology, a precise 3D rendering of the mounting is developed and reviewed with you. Every proportion, every prong, every curve is visible before anything is cast. Adjustments are made at this stage, when they are easy.
04 - Wax Model
A physical wax model is produced so you can hold the piece, try it for size, and evaluate how it sits and moves. This is your final opportunity to refine before casting begins.
05 - Casting and Stone Setting
The piece is cast in your chosen metal. Stones are set by hand with precision. Every element is inspected before the final polish.
06 - Delivery
Your finished piece is presented at the studio, with documentation of the stones and materials used. This is also an opportunity to discuss care, insurance, and anything else relevant to the long-term life of what you have just had made.
Materials
The studio works in 14k and 18k gold in yellow, white, and rose, as well as platinum. Stone selection spans the full spectrum: diamonds in all shapes and cut styles, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and a wide range of colored gemstones. If you have a specific stone in mind that is not on this list, ask. The sourcing network is broad.
Timeline
A completed custom piece typically takes six to ten weeks from the initial consultation to delivery. Timeline varies based on stone sourcing, design complexity, and casting schedule. Rush timelines can sometimes be accommodated - this is best discussed at the consultation.
Pricing
Custom pricing depends on the stone selected, the complexity of the mounting, and the metal chosen. Because every piece is sourced and built individually, there is no standard price list. What there is: full pricing transparency at every stage. You know what the stone costs, what the mounting costs, and what the total is before any commitment is made.
The best piece of jewelry you will ever own is one that was never on a shelf. It starts with a conversation.
